A GUIDE TO THE BEST SECOND-HAND MARKETS: BRISBANE

Monday, 11 July 2016

001. In a follow up post to my "Guide to Ethical and Sustainable Shopping" I've decided to feature a few of my favourite second-hand fashion markets from around Brisbane. Definitely one thing I miss about living in the city is the endless options for finding funky pre-loved clothes. I hope this is helpful for you Brissie gals and inspires you to shop sustainably, BECAUSE IT'S SO DARN EASY AND AFFORDABLE!

Metre Market
What: pre-loved fashion, local designers/creators, food and drinks too!
Where: Morningside
Frequency: it only started in February this year... but as far as I know they are monthly currently. Keep updated for events via their Facebook page.

Wardrobe Warriors
What: second hand clothing and vintage pieces from local fashionistas wardrobes
Where:various locations (including Mount Gravatt, Morayfield and the Gold Coast)
Frequency: monthly-ish depending on the location you want to travel to!

Suitcase Rummage
What: guys and gals selling preloved clothing or handmade goodies out of their suitcases
Where: top of Queen Street Mall (predominately pre-loved fashion) and the Powerhouse (handmade rummage only).

Her Wardrobe
What: pre-loved, indie, vintage and designer fashion markets
Where: multiple locations around Brisbane and Logan for different markets (but they also have markets based at the Sunny Coast, Gold Coast and Byron area!)
Frequency: Monthly

The Diva's Wardrobe
What: a little pricer and more fancy that your average markets, with sellers specialising in more designer and slightly higher-end fashion pieces
Where: Fortitude Valley
Frequency: Quarterly (give or take a bit?)

Boudoir Bazaar
What: pre-loved fashion market, with lots of designer and vintage goodies
Where: Fortitude Valley
Frequency: on a Sunday every two months (to coincide with school terms and season changes)

Love Me Again Market
What: stalls of pre-loved clothing, food vans and fresh flowers
Where: Paddington
Frequency: monthly

Closet Clean Out
What: racks of pre-loved clothing at the local fresh food/gourmet delights market
Where: Eagle Farm Racecourse
Frequency: last Sunday of each month

St Augustine's Jumble Sale
What: lots of cheap pre-loved clothes in a good ol' fashioned jumble sale
Where: St Augustine's Church, Hamilton
Frequency: monthly

Excess Baggage Secondhand Market
What: pre-loved and vintage pieces
Where: Paddington
Frequency: bi-monthly-ish

002. I want to continue this series... maybe I could feature the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast next? Online vintage stores? Best op shops? Tell me what you want to see!
